We are seeking a STEAM Teacher to plan, organize and implement an innovative elective program that aligns to Merrick's ambitious plans to be a STEAM based school. STEAM Teachers (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics): coding, robotics, digital citizenship, media literacy, graphic arts, 3D printing, virtual reality, game design, and more! With a rich history and deep roots in the local community, Merrick Academy is an all-inclusive, independent Charter School with approximately 600 students in grades K-5 and a faculty and staff of 90. EnCorps STEM Teachers Program's vision is to realize a day where all students, regardless of socioeconomic status, are inspired and prepared to pursue their dreams. You can change this by becoming a STEM teacher. With the help of EnCorps, you will explore a transition to teaching and if desired, your unique timeline to become a paid teacher, in as little as 9 months, or 3 years depending on your personal goals STEM Teaching Fellows explore the process to become a teacher within 1-3 years with the support of EnCorps and NYAS training, guest teaching field experience, teacher certification guidance, EnCorps cohort of peers and the EnCorps network of schools.
